December - Fayette was a little drizzly and quite windy, temp started out around 39 degrees. Jacky and Mike took first with13.44 lbs. Robert had heavy stringer with 11.25 lbs, among these was a slot fish just under 22 1/4 inches! 5 teams fished and caught a total of 20 fish for 45.35 lbs. Water temp at the outlet was around 86 degrees and around 65 degrees at the inlet. Due to the air temp being low steam off the water around the outlet was so heavy you had to idle because of low visibility.
2005 is over, thanks to Robert for all the officiating. Looks like Robert is the Big Dog with 1929.90 points.
January's tourney will be on Austin on the 14th from daylight to 3 PM.
The first 4 tourneys for next year are as follows:
January 14th - Lake Austin DL - 3 PM, 360 Bridge
February 18th & 19th - Sam Rayburn DL - 5 PM & DL - 1 PM, Powell Park
March 18th - LBJ DL - 4 PM, Harry Deal's Ramp
April 22nd & 23rd - OH Ivie DL - 5 PM & DL - 2 PM, Elm Creek
November - We had a really great tourney on Choke. Phil and Doug took first on Choke, one more time, with 44.22 lbs. Don picked up the Big Bass pot with an awesome 9.31. Don also had heavy stringer with 29.05 lbs. The weather was windy and unusually warm for November, with the water temp around 73 degrees and the air temp in the low 80s. 6 teams fished and caught a total of 91 fish. In addition to Don's 9.31 there were a couple of sixes and a five. The lake level was only about 1 foot down. The hydrilla was virtually absent around and above the 99 bridge. Robert and I pre-fished above the 99 bridge and didn't find any water weeds until about one mile above Bo Derek. In the lower end of the lake there was plenty of hydrilla out to around 12-15 feet.
October - Jacky and Mike took first on Travis with 16.33 lbs. Mike picked up the Big Bass pot with a nice 4.62. Art had heavy stringer with 9.79 lbs. The weather was great, no complaints here. 5 teams fished and caught a total of 28 fish. The lake level was way down. The holes we had fished in January were all out of the water.
September - Robert and Dick took first on Georgetown with 11.97 lbs. The big bass pot will roll over to Travis next month, no one brought in a fish over 18". Robert had heavy stringer with 8.09 lbs. We fished after a night with a full moon. The temperature ended up in the 90s, however we had a nice breeze to fish with.
August – Jacky and Mike took the win on Stillhouse with a total weight of 13.09 lbs. Robert had the big bass with a 4.04. Jacky had heavy stringer with 9.16 lbs. Four teams fished and caught a total of 12 fish. The day started under a full moon with the weather cooperating very nicely. There was cloud cover until about mid morning with a light breeze continuing on past weigh-in. Looked like the lake had come up 3-4 feet recently, as there was fresh vegetation under water along the shoreline. The lake looked great to me. Don did not fish (had a hand partially out of commission after a little body work) but came to weigh in and joined us afterwards for BBQ at Cowboys. Said he would be ready to go for Georgetown.
New Affiliation – Looks like TABC is it. They have the same basic structure as Honey Hole, but the do not put out a magazine and they fish a Top 8 format. They do put out a newsletter multiple times per year.
Partners – If anyone is in need of a partner please contact Robert Miller. There are several people who do not have a boat that have expressed an interest in fishing this year.
Website – Dick could not keep his comments to himself and he can produce and post HTML pages so he has taken over maintenance of the TIBASS website. Send any suggestions you have to Dick at dolson@zixcorp.com .
